Beth Israel Infectious Diseases/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit: A Pioneer in HIV/AIDS Research
Since 1987, the Infectious Diseases/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (IDACTU) at New York City's Beth Israel Medical Center has been at the forefront of the fight to improve the clinical care and quality of life for people living with HIV AIDS.
At Beth Israel, a team of dedicated and skilled clinicians is working on a number of clinical trials for HIV AIDS. You can be a part of this team! Many questions about HIV/AIDS remain unanswered. One important way to get those answers is by entering drug research studies known as Clinical Trials.
A clinical trial is a research study in human volunteers that tests and evaluates the safety and effectiveness of potential treatments. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the fastest and safest way to find HIV AIDS treatments that work and that may improve your health.
You will receive, at a minimum, the best available treatment.
Participating in a clinical trial for HIV/AIDS not only has the potential to improve your health; it is a great way to play a part in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Infectious Diseases/AIDS Clinical Trial Unit of Beth Israel Hospital is one of New York's premiere research and clinical institutions that has pioneered the research and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
We offer access to cutting edge clinical trials and drug studies that seek to develop novel antiretroviral medications and other treatment strategies to manage HIV and the related opportunistic infections. We are also conducting research into complications of the disease such as HIV-associated lipodystrophy, peripheral neuropathy and hepatitis.
